Philips TV
Create the ultimate TV watching experience.
The Intention
TP Vision (who manufactures Smart TV sets under the name of Philips) was looking for a visual language for the animation of their user interface. I was brought in as the Motion & Visual Designer to collaborate with their design team. Over the course of eleven months, I worked to polish the UI and UX experience of watching television.

Complex Motion Design
The Process
Using Adobe After Effects, my job was to create animated videos which would show how the user-interface of the television would function. Using the static designs and schematics, I brought them to life with an entirely new animated language.
Television interfaces can easily become a complex web of overlapping menus and frames. When I encountered unforeseen problems with the UX or UI, I brought these issues directly to the team. Together we would resolve them for the best experience.
Final Television Animations
My work’s main purpose was to validate the experience of our designs. Once completed, the videos had two purposes: First they were passed to developers to aid in programming of the final product. Secondly these same videos were loaded onto televisions at trade shows like IFA to promote the new product line in development.
TV Mobile App
Also a side project of my work at Philips TV was creating animations and prototypes for their personal TV app.
UX / Visual Design
After completing the motion design language for the main line of televisions, I was invited back to Philips TV for another project. This time, I was to create screen designs for their Hospitality product line. This included very specific use cases for information provided by hotels to their guests.
